Dr. Ben Ainscough is the Chief Technology Officer of Falcon Technologies, where he leads all technology and product development behind Falcon’s predictive and decision-support tools for correctional and behavioral health settings. He brings more than a decade of experience building applied AI in high-stakes, human-centered environments, with a consistent focus on keeping human judgment at the center and improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.

His expertise spans behavioral health and machine learning. As an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Biology at Brigham Young University, Dr. Ainscough leads research applying AI to the understanding and treatment of mental and neurological health conditions. That work directly informs Falcon Technologies’ mission to help facilities identify and respond to risk before it becomes crisis.

His scientific training is in the rigorous, validated application of machine learning to high-stakes problems. Dr. Ainscough earned his PhD in Biology and Biomedical Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, one of the nation’s top research medical schools, where he applied machine learning to cancer genomics under the mentorship of Elaine Mardis, a pioneer of the Human Genome Project and a member of the team that produced the first sequenced human cancer genome. His research has appeared in some of the world’s most respected scientific journals, including Nature, Nature Methods, and Nature Genetics, and was among the earliest successful applications of deep learning to cancer genomics.

Before Falcon Technologies, Dr. Ainscough built and led AI and machine learning teams at multiple publicly traded companies, launching commercial AI product suites and patient-facing platforms from the ground up. His work spans the full lifecycle of applied AI, from research through commercialization, including multilingual health-coaching systems, clinician-support tools, conversational agents, and the automated extraction of clinical data from health records. He also holds a B.S. in Bioinformatics from Brigham Young University, awarded with University Honors, the university’s highest academic distinction.
